There are plenty of tutorial books available these days to help you to learn without the need for lessons. 
Some of you may prefer to learn in a certain style, for instance, Irish, French or Italian. 

Some books will teach you the basics and leave it up to you to progress yourself and some books will start with the music theory and method. 

The DVD/CD books are a useful tool as it is almost like having your own teacher beside you and they are easy to follow.
